Times
Correct the format of times
When this box is checked, Antidote will correct time formats using the spacing (no space, breaking space, non-breaking space or any type of spacing) and the character type (colon or period) you prefer for separating hours and minutes. You can also instruct Antidote to accept times written in the 24-hour format.
- This setting is enabled by default.
Numbers
Correct separators used for groups of three digits
When this box is checked, Antidote will correct the character type used to separate groups of three digits in a numerical sequence. You can also instruct Antidote to verify that a thousands separator (your chosen character type) is used for four-digit numbers and that numbers that come after a decimal are divided into groups of three.
- This setting is enabled by default with the comma set as the default separator.
Type of space
If you choose to use a space to separate groups of three digits in a numerical sequence, you can indicate the type of spacing you want the corrector to accept: thin, breaking, non-breaking or any.
Correct separators used for decimals
When this box is checked, Antidote will correct the type of separator used for decimals and let you choose between a period and a comma.
- This setting is enabled by default with the period set as the default separator.
Symbols
Use the symbols ′ and ″ in coordinates and dimensions (3′ 6″)
When this box is checked, Antidote will detect any coordinates or dimensions that are written using apostrophes or quotation marks (e.g. 3'6"). It will correct these symbols for single and double prime symbols (e.g. 3′ 6″), in accordance with typographic conventions.
- This setting is enabled by default.
Replace the letter X with the multiplication symbol (8½ × 11)
When this box is checked, Antidote will correct the letter X when it is used to express multiplication, replacing it with the recommended multiplication symbol (×).
- This setting is enabled by default.
Addresses
Correct address formats
When this box is checked, Antidote will correct certain errors in address formats. You can tell it to Accept, Require or Reject double spaces before the postal code and to Accept, Require or Reject a comma between the street and the municipality. If so instructed, the corrector will also verify the character used to separate the unit and building numbers; choose from an en dash, a comma or any separator.
- This setting is enabled by default.
Phone numbers
Require a non-breaking space
When this box is checked, the corrector will replace regular spaces in a phone number with non-breaking spaces.
- This setting is enabled by default.
Decades
Allow abbreviated decades
When this box is checked, the corrector will allow the use of abbreviations for decades (e.g. ’90s for 1990s). From the drop-down menu below, choose whether the corrector should Require, Accept or Reject the apostrophes before these abbreviations.
