Adding a Custom Rule

From the corrector

To add a detection for a word based on a custom rule, select the word in the corrector, open the context menu (right click) and select Add a custom rule. Antidote automatically creates a list (if you have never done so before) or asks you to create a list (if you have never done so before) or to choose an existing list to which you would like to add the rule. The customizations windowscreen opens and Antidote automatically configures the new rule.

  • When a rule generates a detection, the tooltip displays a See the rule link so you can review it if necessary.
  • A note is added in the definitions dictionary for the word that triggers the rule.

From the customizations window

To add a detection for a word or a string of characters, open the customizations windowscreen from the Window menu (on a Mac) or the Resources menu (in Windows) by clicking the icon in the sidebar. You can then add as many rules as you like.

Add

To add a new rule, select the list to which you want to add it, click the icon in the bar above the rightmost panel and configure your entry as needed.

  • You can also right-click anywhere in the rules list panel and select Add a rule from the context menu.

Duplicate

To use an existing rule as a model for a new entry, select the rule you want to use as a template from the list and click the icon in the bar above the rightmost panel. Simply edit any information that differs for the new entry.

  • You can also right-click a rule in the list and select Duplicate from the context menu.

Delete

To delete a rule, select it from the list and click the icon in the bar above the rightmost panel.

  • You can also right-click a rule in the list and select Delete from the context menu.

Save

The information you enter for your new rule is automatically saved as soon as you click anywhere else in the entry form. You can also click the Save button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. You can carry on adding or editing entries as you please or simply close the customizations windowmove on to a different screen.
